Spain: Arenas de Cabrales, Asturies

But we came out onto familiar roads and into the small town of Arenas de Cabrales in the Picos de Europa, where we had booked at the Hotel Torrecerrado - the first time there, but subsequently has become a favourite destination:

This was the view from our bedroom window:

We went for walks around some local deserted villages:

We were joined there my Helen and Nick:

and went walking with them off the Sotres road:

Another day we went on the funicular up to Bulnes:

The only way to get to Bulnes before the funicular was by donkey:

which comes out of a hole in the hillside:

and the village is now a bit of a tourist attraction:

and walked a little way up the track from there to a glimpse of the Naranjo de Bulnes:

then back to Bulnes and down the funicular (though we could have walked down the long way):

and drove to Tresviso.  But not every day was sunny and this was sometimes our view from the window:

One day we also drove into Oviedo to buy some CDs ... of course.
