Spain: Mucientes

Paco Diéz is a musician friend who had just established a museum of traditional instruments, and a theatre space, in the little village of Mucientes, just north of Valladolid. He'd arranged accommodation for us in a rural apartment (casa rural):



from where we could look across the plains of Castille to the village:




We visited the museum (the house was still under construction), and were the first paying guests!









We had dinner one night with the family at their old home in Cigales and another lunch in a local restaurant:



The village also had a barrio of caves ... deeply dug, originally for wine storage:





We drove round a few other villages in the area (Villalba de los Acores, Ampudia):




including one where Paco was playing at the opening of the lights in the castle at Montealegra:
